Owner Operators

	Testing Procedures

Owner Operator Random Selection is accomplished on a Quarterly Year Basis. Any Owner Operator selected for a random drug or alcohol test will be notified by telephone and/or certified letter. Upon notification of a random test, the Owner Operator must proceed immediately to the testing location.

Random Testing will be done either at the LWD collection facility or at a LWD pre-selected clinic. We will make every effort to assign a clinic that is within a ten mile radius of the Owner Operator's home address or where their commercial vehicle is placed.

LWD offers Post Accident testing to any Owner Operator involved in an accident while operating their commercial vehicle. A DOT Post Accident test is required under accident conditions below.

Fees for a DOT Post Accident Drug and Alcohol test are billed separately and must be paid upon receipt of invoice.

Owner/Operators will be subject to post accident testing if the following conditions are met:

	1.	If there is a fatality in connection with the accident.
	2.	If Owner Operator receives a citation for a moving violation and there are any injuries treated away from the scene of the accident, or your commercial vehicle is disabled and towed from the scene of the accident.

	If you are involved in any of the above conditions in connection with an accident:
	A.	Owner Operator must attempt to obtain an alcohol test within two (2) hours following the accident. If this cannot be done, then test must be conducted within eight (8) hours. If you are not able to meet the eight hour limit, you may cease all attempts to be tested.
	B.	Owner Operator must obtain a drug test within thirty-two hours (32) hours following the accident.

Follow these instructions:

	1.	Call the LWD office at (626) 813-1086. If no one is in the office, leave message with a phone number where you can be reached.
	2.	The address of the nearest collection site will be given to you.
	3.	Proceed immediately to the collection site for a DOT Drug & Alcohol Test.
	4.	The rersults will be relayed to us within forty-eight (48) hours and you will be notified of the results

DON'T WAIT FOR THE D.O.T. OR HIGHWAY PATROL TO INSPECT YOU.
